HOST HOTEL
The Host Hotel for the National
Duathlon Festival will be the Crowne Plaza Downtown Richmond located
just a few blocks from the event venue. For a list of hotels offering

here. All registration and the expo will take place at the
venue site.
EVENT VENUE
The Start/Finish and Transition
Area is the field adjacent to 2nd Street and bordering New Market
Corporation, the same area used for the Duathlon World Championships
in October 2007.

CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFICATION INFORMATION

AGE GROUP
7 spots per age group - roll down to 10th place
JUNIOR
2008 Duathlon National Championships will serve as a qualifier
for the 2008 ITU Junior Duathlon World Championships in Rimini,
Italy, on September 27-28, 2008. Eligible Athletes must be between
the ages of 16 and 19 years old as of December 31, 2008, per ITU
World Championship rules. Athletes racing in the 13-15 Youth Elite
division at Duathlon Nationals are not eligible to compete at
ITU World Championships. USAT will award two (2) automatic nominations
to the Junior Duathlon World Championships team, provided at least
ten (10) Eligible Athletes participate in the National Championship
(16-19 Junior Division, gender specific). Unclaimed spots will
roll down to 3rd place. If fewer than ten (10) Eligible Athletes
participate in the National Championship (16-19 Junior Division,
gender specific), then USAT will award one (1) automatic nomination
to the Junior World Duathlon Championships team, with no roll
downs. USAT may choose to fill any remaining spots on the team
by discretionary selection pursuant to the criteria available
at:

Performance at Duathlon Nationals
will be considered. Athletes are responsible for all costs of
participating in the ITU Junior Duathlon World Championships,
including travel and accommodations. Performance-based incentives
are outlined in the discretionary selection criteria previously

WATER STOPS/FEED
STATIONS
Run Course - There will be a water/Gatorade stop
at the foot of the pedestrian bridge on Belle Isle
Bike Course
- There is NO bottle exchange/feed station on
the bike course
Transition
Area - Water and Gatorade will be offered adjacent to
the Transition Area on the run course.
BIKE ASSEMBLY
SERVICE OFFERED
3Sports
can provide incoming athletes with receipt and assembly services
as well as disassembly and return freight service for their bicycles
and equipment. For $25 3Sports will receive the bicycle, assemble
it, tune it up and have it ready and waiting for pickup at the
shop. 3Sports will also provide free inspection and adjustment
services at the shop anytime the week prior to the race.
In addition, after
the event 3Sports is able to provide disassembly and return shipping
services for athletes and their equipment for an additional $25
plus UPS freight charges.
